Updated at

You have must seen them everywhere. A furry, mischievous creature with the rabbit-like ears and a wide, toothy grin hanging off celebrity handbags and flooding your social media feeds. This is Labubu, the star of a global pop culture phenomenon. You can read our blog to know more about the origin story: Who is Labubu? The Origin Story of Kasing Lung's Iconic Art Toy
What many new fans are just discovering is that Labubu is just one member of a huge "family tree" of characters called "The Monsters". This "family" is less about a literal family tree and more about a magical tribe of quirky, lovable elves and creatures.
If you've been wondering who's who in this monster universe, this is your ultimate guide. We’ll introduce you to the whole family, from Labubu’s leader, Zimomo, to her skeleton boyfriend, Tycoco, and her "special" friend, Mokoko.
The Family Tree of The Monsters
We have created a Family Tree Map for better understanding.

Welcome to The Monsters Universe!
This is the most important thing to know: "The Monsters" isn't just a line of toys. It's a world that came first.
The characters originated in Kasing Lung's 2015 trilogy of illustrated storybooks. The lore is set in a magical "fairy world" populated by a tribe of "zoomorphic elves" and creatures who can be "both good and evil".
What truly sets The Monsters apart from ordinary cute toys is that they come with a story already in place. Fans aren’t simply purchasing a figure. They’re also taking home a chapter from that world. Because of this richer backstory, people form a deeper emotional bond with the characters, making the urge to collect them even stronger.
Now, let's meet the main members of the tribe.
Labubu: The Mischievous Star

Labubu
- Who They Are: Labubu is the face of the franchise, the most famous character of the group.According to public reports, the creator Kasing Lung has confirmed that Labubu is a girl.
- Personality: She is the classic protagonist: mischievous, playful, and a bit of a troublemaker, but always "kind-hearted". The official lore says she "always wants to help, but often accidentally achieves the opposite".
- How to Spot Her: This is the most crucial part! Labubu has high, pointed ears, a furry body, and a wide grin with nine serrated teeth. Her key identifier: Labubu has NO TAIL.
Zimomo: The Gentle Leader

Zimomo
- Who They Are: Zimomo is the official leader of the Labubu elves/tribe. He is the main male in the core furry group.
- Personality: He is the opposite of Labubu. While she is mischievous, Zimomo is described as "calm, gentle, and introspective". He serves as the "protective and guiding role" for the tribe.
- How to Spot Him: This is where everyone gets confused. He looks a lot like Labubu. The one, unmissable difference: Zimomo has a long, spiked tail. (The lore also says he has a rounder face and is twice Labubu's size, but in toy form, the tail is the easiest way to tell).
Mokoko: The "Special" One

Mokoko
- Who They Are: Mokoko is a close companion and "kin" of Labubu. She is also a girl.
- Personality: Her name literally means "special" in elvish. She has a "sweet and delicate personality" and is often seen in cute outfits with bows or flowers.
- How to Spot Her: Mokoko is the easiest of the main three to identify. She has pastel pink fur, a white belly, curly eyelashes, and a very distinct heart-shaped nose.
Tycoco: The Loyal Boyfriend

Tycoco and Labubu
- Who They Are: Tycoco is Labubu's patient boyfriend.
- Personality: He's a harmless vegetarian who is "patient and loyal". He is often on the receiving end of Labubu's antics but cares for her too much to get mad.
- How to Spot Him: You can't miss him. He's a skeleton.
Spooky: The Curious Snowman

Spooky
- Who They Are: Spooky is a monster who lives near the Labubu village. In a true "family tree" connection, he is Pippo's half-brother.
- Personality: Don't let the name fool you. He's described as "cute, quiet, and curious". He loves "nighttime adventures under the moonlight".
- How to Spot Him: He's a snowman. His head is often described as looking like a "dumpling" because of its distinct folds.
Pato: The Droopy-Eared Dreamer

Pato
- Who They Are: Pato is another friend in the tribe and is best friends with Yaya. The lore also mysteriously calls him "The spirit mountain".
- Personality: He has a cheerful look.
- How to Spot Him: Pato is instantly recognizable by his big, droopy ears. He usually has purple skin, but this can change depending on the series.
Pippo: The River Elf

Pippo
- Who They Are: Pippo is a "freedom-loving" elf who lives in the river. He is good friends with Labubu and Zimomo and is Spooky's half-brother.
- How to Spot Him: He's an elf, but his distinguishing feature is his big ears that stick out to the side.
The Extended Family (Yaya & Vos)

Yaya & Vos
For true collectors, the lore goes even deeper. You may also hear about Yaya, who is Pato's best friend and playmate. And then there's Vos, who is Tycoco's cousin and, in a fun twist, is known as Labubu's "master." He's an extrovert who loves to drink.
Conclusion
"The Monsters" universe created by Kasing Lung is a far richer and more interconnected world than it first appears.
It's not just about the star character, Labubu; it's a "monster tribe" full of personality which from the calm leader Zimomo and the loyal skeleton boyfriend Tycoco to the curious snowman Spooky and the droopy-eared Pato.
We hope this family tree guide helps you clearly distinguish each unique member and gain a deeper appreciation for the rich lore and unique charm that has captivated collectors worldwide.
